Joel A. DeFelice

Joel A. DeFelice is a Connecticut attorney whose practice includes creditor collections, civil litigation, and enforcement proceedings. He represents financial institutions, credit unions, and business creditors throughout Connecticut in the recovery of consumer and commercial debt.

His collections practice includes the management of high volume portfolios, from pre-suit evaluation through judgment and post-judgment enforcement. This includes actions involving bank executions, wage executions, and other available remedies under Connecticut law. His approach emphasizes efficient case handling, consistent court appearances, and practical recovery strategies tailored to each client.

Attorney DeFelice also represents clients in residential and commercial real estate matters, including closing transactions, leasing, and landlord-related litigation. He regularly handles summary process (eviction) matters and related enforcement proceedings, providing practical guidance to property owners and business clients.

In addition to these areas, Attorney DeFelice represents clients in other civil litigation matters, as well as probate, probate-litigation, and estate planning.

Attorney DeFelice earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The American University School of Public Affairs in Washington, D.C., where he was a Dean’s Scholarship Recipient. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006 and is admitted to practice before the Connecticut State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.

He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Hartford County Bar Association, and Tolland County Bar Association, and previously served as President of the Tolland County Bar Association.

He has served as a Special Divorce Master in the Rockville (Tolland County) Judicial District since 2013. In 2025, Attorney DeFelice was appointed as a FINRA Public Arbitrator.
